In this episode, I introduce myself and the podcast, and we go on a journey exploring why Red Dead Redemption 2 will (probably) be one of the best games ever made, how it will possibly change the face of open-world games going forward, and some of the warning signs that some gamers may want to watch out for.
Title: Episode 1: Red Dead Redemption 2 – Hype Train or Hype Gain?
Genre: Video Games
Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening, All!
I went ahead and ordered a decent microphone today, in the hopes that I may use it to continue making videos on YouTube, as well as to start a podcast. I had a YouTube channel previously, so I’ve updated that to “VideoGameSlinger.” I’ll leave the videos up there, and I will continue to do the ASMR thing that is in some of the videos–I have a lot of gaming magazines, after all! However, I will also use it as a central hub for everything related to this blog, as well.
Anyhow, the big news is the podcast! I love to write about all things gaming, and I figure a podcast would be a way to do that. The podcast doesn’t need to be all that long, and that forum also allows for some deviation from the standard “set in stone” aesthetic of the reviews and such that I create. What I mean by that is, from time to time, it will be nice to just roll with it or just shoot the shit with some folks online or what-have-you. Doesn’t need to be structured to be a podcast, after all!
What will the name be, you ask? “Minutes with GameSlinger?” “This Gamer Life?” “Dirty Games?”
Nah, it will probably just be: “GameSlinger’s Humble Abode.”
Yeah, that works.
Essentially, I want to have a good time with what I’m doing as well as provide some entertainment, so hopefully this will help everyone involved meet in the middle.
Finally, I’ve decided to bring some of the other projects I manage together onto this blog–this is my home now, after all, so I might as well make good use of it! Anyhow, more information will come along as I figure out what’s what, so stay tuned!
UPDATE: The podcast is here! Visit this page to access a listing of all the episodes.
Don’t wait to checkout the first of many, many reviews to hit the site: Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4!
Discovered this gem today:
Watch all 10 hours and be entered into a drawing to win this!
. . . but not really.
First and foremost, that sexy image up there, all big and stuff? Yeah, that’s Red Dead Redemption 2. It needs no introduction, but I still introduced it because if you happen to be one of the 3.2 people on Earth that don’t know about it, well you need to. So there’s a nice big juicy teaser for you, free of charge (bill’s in the mail).
Me? Well, you can call me pretty much anything, but I have a few different pseudonyms: Gun, Gunslinger, Requiem, Req, Writer Dude, and the newly-penned GameSlinger. Why so many names? *shrug* Cause.
If you couldn’t tell, I have an interesting sense of humor–which is a nice way of saying that it’s fucking horrible. Like really, really bad. But I get a kick out of it. I don’t take many things seriously, but one thing I do take seriously is video games. I’ve been playing them since the old NES days, and I’ve been in love ever since. I’m not new to this whole writing gig either, I should say–I worked for over two years for an online gaming magazine doing previews and reviews (http://www.gamingexcellence.com//) and I wrote short stories for my college magazine to help get scholarships to pay my way through school. It was cool that they did that–I may even post some of them on here sometime.
Anyway, enough about me. I’m here to do some key things, and I hope you enjoy your time here, one way or another. I’m going to post reviews (possibly even video reviews at some point–I have the technology, just too lazy to use it at current time), post opinions about new gaming products or whatever tickles my fancy, post strategies (I’m a huge RPG nerd, and I love finding ways to break games) and maybe even post some of my writing down the road, if you people like it (you won’t).
I expect to post once a week, bare minimum, and I am going to post reviews of both older games and newer games that are just coming out. I have hundreds of PS4 and PC games, and I’m always keeping up-to-date with the latest releases.
That’s about it for now, but I do want you to know that despite my odd sense of humor, I give a shit about what you think. Leave comments and suggestions, feel free to contact me using either the form on the “Contact Me” page or just shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or just chase me down in the street and tell me things (if you can find me, that is). Simply put, I’m just one person spouting nonsense–you’re the editors that help it make sense.
Thanks for being here.
Also, Red Dead Redemption 2. ‘Nuff said.
